Doula support covered by
Medi-Cal and Private Insurance!

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) added doula services as a covered benefit on January 1, 2023. Many private/commercial health insurance policies started covering doula services as well!

Through Medi-Cal you are qualified for the following doula services to be covered by your insurance:

  • 8 Prenatal OR postpartum visits — up to 2 hours each

  • 2 Extended postpartum visits — up to 3 hours each

  • Support for pregnancy outcomes — vaginal delivery, VBAC, cesarean, miscarriage or abortion.
